Yes. StayCleanMac is free, with no ads, trials, or premium tiers. It's distributed on GitHub Releases as a signed and notarized DMG. If you want to support development, sponsor the project — but there's no paywall gating any feature.
Sponsor on GitHubTo scan protected Library folders like ~/Library/Caches and ~/Library/Preferences, plus system paths like /Library/LaunchDaemons. macOS requires explicit permission for these. You grant it once at first launch through System Settings — StayCleanMac never transmits what it finds.
Every operation moves files to the Trash first, and a toast appears with an Undo button. Press ⌘Z or tap Undo within 10 seconds to instantly restore. Beyond that, items live in your Trash until you empty it. The only exceptions are system-level startup items and permission resets — those are noted explicitly and cannot be undone.
StayCleanMac is focused and transparent. Smart Clean plus five clearly-scoped tools, no "performance score" theater, no subscription, no cloud sync, no sign-in. It's written in SwiftUI as a native Apple Silicon app, weighs {size}, and shows you exactly what it will do before acting.
StayCleanMac currently ships as an Apple Silicon build for macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. Intel Macs are not supported by the current release artifact.
StayCleanMac uses the Sparkle framework with EdDSA-signed releases. It checks for updates every 24 hours in the background. Downloads come from GitHub Releases, where the release history is available.
